Smiles & Sugar

Yesterday Baby S got a real dose of sugar. We headed to the doc for a standard glucose screening to ensure mama doesn't have gestational diabetes. It begins with about 8-12 ounces of an orange, sugary drink that sort of reminded me of Hi-C. If you want to know more, this gal thoroughly documented it on her blog, The Mommy Diary.

Immediately after drinking it, Baby S began what would turn out to be a day of gymnastics. LOL I don't know how else to describe it, other than to say our little one was behaving as if he was let loose on a playground full of friends. :-) Such fun to feel all that movement!

We also had THE BEST ultrasound experience of the pregnancy. Y'all know mama's desire for one of those adorable profile pics that make you sigh, 'awwww'. Well, our blessing has determined to be bashful and make us wait to see the real thing. We learned a couple new terms "anterior" and "vertex". This means the baby is curled head down (AWESOME) in a fetal position and sort of facing my back, rather than my tummy. No wonder getting a good photo is such a challenge. The good thing is, if baby can remain in that position for the next 14 or less weeks, we'll be all set for a normal delivery. Woo-hoo! That'd be awesome. We will be 26 weeks tomorrow, 2/26, and we'll now be making bi-weekly visits to the doc. Wow! Time is going by so fast and we want to enjoy every moment.

So, here's a pic that shows baby's face. If you look closely, you can see an eye, the nose, and a heart-shaped chin below a smile!!! Or, a smirk? Either way, it's definitely an expression. I think baby was say ha ha, I'm playing hide-and-seek, but I'll give y'all a peek.

I'm thinking the baby already resembles dad, especially in this pic from his childhood.
