What's in a name?

A lot! Seems like the closer we get to D day, the more folks are inquiring about potential names for our Blessed Little One. Mama thought we'd narrowed it to two frontrunners, only to find out Papa wasn't sold... yet.

Our goal is to give our child a name that has meaning, particularly from Biblical times. We used to say we'd name our kids a combination of Biblical and Capital names, since our favorite hobby is visiting U.S. Capitol buildings.

Well, for our potential son, mission accomplished. For our little princess in waiting, we can't seem to land on a name we both love. I'm willing to compromise, but Papa is patient. He said he believes that God will reveal the perfect name in time. I agree.

28 weeks

Baby S is now 28 weeks old and in 11 weeks and three days (or less) will debut for all those waiting patiently and excitedly for his or her arrival. It's virtually impossible to describe the level of enthusiasm felt at this point in the pregnancy journey.

Right now Baby S is nearing three pounds and is between 12-15 inches in length. According to all the "experts," eyes are opening and closing, breathing is being practiced and dreams are swirling around in our baby's head. Wonder what a baby so young could possibly have on their mind. LOL

As for Mama, she's on the hunt for a dress and gaining weight, as evidenced in the photo below. Five pounds within two weeks so far and another 10 pounds is expected to find their way to me before our little one is born.

Exciting times, exciting times!

Progress...

So, since we last updated y'all, we've been asked a number of times how the nursery is coming along. Truth be told, it's a blank canvas. We have mentioned adding crown molding and painting the chocolate accent wall (Sherwin Williams Otter) to the lighter color on the other walls called Believable Buff, also an SW color. We figure any crib we get will be a dark finish and wouldn't work with the deeper hue.

Speaking of crib, we've got yet another heavyweight contender that to my surprise we found at Babies R Us. Until two weeks ago, we hadn't visited BRU. When we did, we not only found a great crib option, but also a beautiful glider that we have since ordered. Here are pics of the glider, crib, and dresser:

In addition, we zeroed in on a car seat! Score! What's really awesome about the Evenflo Symphony is that it's a convertible, meaning it'll last us through each of the child restraint stages required here in Texas - infant (rear-facing), toddler (forward-facing), and young child (booster seat). This means we won't have to buy another seat - maybe ever. That is, unless God blesses us with another child. :)

The fact that we added the car seat to our registry on Sunday and someone bought it like yesterday is truly humbling. We are SO grateful for the generosity of our family and friends and can't wait to celebrate "what God did" at the baby shower next month.

Just us...

Not sure why, but I just felt led to post pics from the other sweetest time of our lives... January 31, 2004.
